Today’s Video of the Day from the U.S. Geological Survey features the world’s biggest producers of hops – an important flavoring and stability agent in beer.
In southern Germany, around six million people visit the Bavarian city of Munich for Oktoberfest in a celebration of beer that coincides with the hops harvest.
North of Munich is the world’s largest continuous hops-growing region, Hallertau, which is where more than 80 percent of Germany’s hops come from.
