Today’s Video of the Day from the U.S. Geological Survey features the site of the Burning Man, the largest outdoor arts festival in North America, as it appears from space.
Every year, tens of thousands of people build a temporary city called Black Rock City in the Black Rock Desert of northwestern Nevada.
After a Labor Day finale, art structures are hauled away and the city quickly vanishes.
In this video, captured by the Operational Land Imager on Landsat 8, only a rough outline of Black Rock City is detectable by the end of October.
