Today’s Video of the Day from the European Space Agency features Sindh, a large province of southern Pakistan.
Sindh shares a border with the Thar Desert to the east, the Kirthar mountains to the west and the Arabian Sea to the south. The province is centered around the fertile plain of the Indus River.
“Agriculture is key to Sindh’s economy with cotton, wheat, rice, sugarcane and maize being the major crops produced in the province. Livestock raising is also important, with cattle, buffalo, sheep and goats being the main animals kept,” reports ESA.
Beyond farming, Sindh is home to much of Pakistan’s industrial sector. The province contains two of the country’s busiest ports: Port Qasim and the Port of Karachi. The provincial capital of Karachi is the most populous city in Pakistan, and its main financial hub.
