Today’s Video of the Day comes from the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) and features a look at how studying soundscapes can be just as important as studying landscapes.
Ecology has traditionally focused on examining landscapes in terms of vegetation, ground composition, and topography. As a result, we have a historical record of how different environments have looked over the course of time, but we have much less information about what these places sounded like.
Now, a new study has offered new technology and methods for scientists to properly examine and understand particular soundscapes.
