Today’s Video of the Day comes from the European Space Agency’s Earth from Space series and features a look at Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia.
Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world, with an area of over 10,000 square kilometers located in the central Andes Mountains. Roughly 40,000 years ago, this region was part of a massive prehistoric lake that dried up and left the salt behind.
