Today’s Video of the Day from the European Space Agency describes the laws that govern outer space.
For example, the Outer Space Treaty states that “outer space is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means.”
Astronauts are not allowed to own a souvenir because outer space belongs to everyone.
Furthermore, if an astronaut wants to conduct an experiment in space, they have to make sure that they do not interfere with the activities of other missions.
