Today’s Video of the Day from the USGS describes the discovery of a new island that has appeared between the Thwaites and Pine Island glaciers in West Antarctica.
Earlier this year, scientists with the Thwaites Glacier Offshore Research Project (THOR) were the first humans to see the island. The experts named it Sif Island after the Norse goddess of Earth and wife to Thor.
