Today’s Video of the Day comes from the American Chemical Society’s Reactions series and features a look at how ice from the bottom of the ocean can actually be set on fire and burned.
Of course, the ice we’re talking about is actually methane hydrate that is a crystalline complex made up of methane and water that forms naturally underneath the ocean floor. Once brought above the water’s surface and placed in contact with a flame, the methane will burn while the water melts away.
