Today’s Video of the Day from Purdue University reveals tiny hummingbird robots that have been created to maneuver in ways that drones cannot.
The robots, which weigh only 12 grams, were trained using artificial intelligence and can learn how to navigate the world on their own just like real hummingbirds.
“The robot can essentially create a map without seeing its surroundings,” explained Professor Xinyan Deng. “This could be helpful in a situation when the robot might be searching for victims in a dark place – and it means one less sensor to add when we do give the robot the ability to see.”
