This month, eastern France has experienced an unusually high amount of rainfall, causing widespread flooding along the Seine River. Today’s Video of the Day comes from NASA and features a look at where the heaviest rainfall occurred.
This clip was created using data collected by the Global Precipitation Measurement mission (GPM core satellite), which can accurately detect precipitation levels from space. Researchers at NASA’s Goddard Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland analyzed the rainfall thanks to NASA’s Integrated Multi-satellite Retrievals for GPM (IMERG) data from the period of January 17, 2018 through January 25, 2018.
