Today’s Video of the Day from the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) introduces a new smart device capable of producing large amounts of clean hydrogen.
When used with concentrated sunlight and smart thermal management, the photo-electrochemical system can turn solar power into hydrogen with a 17 percent conversion rate.
Hydrogen will play an important role in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels by providing us with a clean energy source.
The project has been taken to the next scale with a pilot facility installed on the EPFL campus.
The study is published in the journal Nature Energy.
