Today’s Video of the Day comes from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and features a look at annual temperatures on Earth from 1880 until 2016.
The blue areas represent temperatures cooler than the 20th-century average, while the red areas represent temperatures warmer than the 20th century.
According to research led by the University of Arizona, global surface temperatures increased dramatically from 2014 to 2016, which in turn boosted the total amount of warming since the beginning of this century by over 25 percent in just those three years.
