Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Mount Washington in New Hampshire. This photo was taken by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) onboard the Landsat 8 satellite.
Mount Washington holds the title for the highest peak in the northeastern United States, measuring in it 6,288.2 feet. It is also infamous for its poor and unpredictable weather conditions, which some have even deemed “the world’s worst weather.”
The climate at the summit is classified as a tundra climate and receives an unusually high amount of annual precipitation given its frigid temperatures.
