Bergen Norway, formerly known as Bjørgvin , is a city and municipality in Vestland county on
Norway’s west coast. As of 2021, its population is roughly 285,900, making Bergen the second-largest city in Norway. Considering the latitude, the
Gulf Stream keeps the sea relatively warm, and the mountains keep cold winds out. With its oceanic climate, Bergen gets a lot of rain in all seasons and a bit of snow in winter, but the snow usually melts quickly. Average annual precipitation during 1961 – 1990 was 2,250 mm (89 in).
