Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Argentina at night.
The image is a composite constructed using the best cloud-free nights in each month of 2016. The data was captured by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the NASA-NOAA Suomi NPP satellite.
The horizontal line of light on the left side is the Pan-American highway that leads into the city of San Luis, Argentina. Also pictured from left to right are the cities of Cordoba, Rio Cuarto, Villa Maria, Santa Fe, and Rosario.
