Almost No Vehicles

It’s worth noting, too, that motor vehicles are also fairly scarce on Niihau. The island has no proper roads, you see, and so residents mostly use horses to get around. In addition, many of the locals make regular trips over to Kauai, where there are more jobs, more schools and better access to medical care.
