Once Darlene learned of the fate of the wolfdog Chinook, she took her home. That’s when she learned of the issues and controversies regarding wolf-dogs and wolf-dog breeders throughout the county. With this new information, Darlene was determined to provide a safe haven for unwanted wolf-dogs, so she created the Wolf Hybrid Rescue Center. She was horrified when, during the first year of operation, the Center was inundated with 15 – 20 phone calls every day from people who wanted to surrender their wolves. She realized that simply rescuing them wasn’t enough.
