Today’s Video of the Day from the European Space Agency features a satellite view of Lake Balaton from space.
Located in western Hungary, the lake is primarily fed by the Zala River to its west.
Lake Balaton was once five separate bodies of water. The barriers eroded away over time, creating the largest freshwater lake in central Europe.
During the migrating season, the lake provides an important site for thousands of ducks and geese.
