This image features a beautiful coral reef in the Gulf of Mexico captured by the NASA Earth Observatory. The reef is located roughly 60 miles north of Progresso, Mexico and owns the title of the largest coral structure in the southern Gulf. In 1994, the area was named a National Park of Mexico, and in 2006, it became designated as a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
