Schiedea kealiae NatureServe Explorer Species Reports — NatureServe Explorer is a source for authoritative conservation information on more than 50,000 plants, animals and ecological communtities of the U.S and Canada. NatureServe Explorer provides in-depth information on rare and endangered species, but includes common plants and animals too. NatureServe Explorer is a product of NatureServe in collaboration with the Natural Heritage Network. The goal of Native Plants Hawaii (NPH) is to create and establish a single, comprehensive and searchable online database / knowledgebase with information updated by participating nurseries and specialists. This will connect local nurseries to landscape architects and home growers to promote the use and understanding of local native plants.

It is endemic to Hawaii, where it is known only from the Waianae Range on the island of Oahu. It is threatened by the degradation and destruction of its habitat. It was federally listed as an endangered species of the United States in 1996.
