Description

Haplophyllum linifolium is a species of shrub in the Rutaceae family. It is a semi-lignified plant, with various stems, half a meter high, with 20-30 x 4-3 mm leaves, seated, ovate-lanceolate to linear, very loosely pubescent, widely spaced at the top. The inflorescence is dense. Bracts linear, glabrous. Sepals 15-22 x 15-17 mm, ovate-triangular, ciliate. Petals gradually narrowing towards the base. The fruits are in the form of 4-7 mm capsules, longer than the pedicel, with a large number of translucent glands and with a slightly ciliate apex, yellowish green in color, segments of the capsules acuminate and approximate. It blooms from June to July. It is found on basic or chalky loam soils. Very localized, on the coast, Aljarafe, Subbética in the center south and east of Spain and North Africa. Haplophyllum linifolium was described by Carlos Linnaeus and combined into its present name by G.Don fil. in Gen. Syst, 1.780 (1831) Synonymy: Haplophyllum hispanicum Spach Ruta linifolia L. Haplophyllum pubescens Boiss. Common name: Spanish: rue, rosemary rue, wild rue with flax leaf. Valencian: rue de fulla estreta.
