Thymus piperella

Description

Thymus piperella is a small shrub with upright stems that are tomentose hairy and in whose armpits the leaves are in clumps. The leaves are 5 to 6 mm long and 3 to 4 mm wide. They are leathery, not ciliate, clearly petiolate, with flat margins, ovate, obtuse and glabrous. The flowers are loose and do not form a pronounced inflorescence . The pseudobulbs usually consist of six to ten single flowers. The bracts are similar to the leaves. The calyx is 4 to 6 mm long, the calyx tube is cylindrical, the upper calyx teeth are the same length as wide and not ciliate. The crown is 7 to 10 mm long and purple colored, it has a narrow Kronröhre.
