Description

The stems are shortened or missing. The leaves are arranged in a basal rosette. They are linear, 6 to 60 centimeters x 5 to 7 millimeters in size and spiky to the tip. The 20 or more leaf veins are only indistinct. The spathas are 6 to 10 centimeters large. Its stem is 20 to 120 centimeters long. The plants are diocesan , the flowers unisexual. A Spatha contains a female or 5 to 10 male flowers. The sepals are reddish, linear, and 9 to 10 - about 1.5 millimeters. The petals measure 2 to 2.5 centimeters or more. There are 9 stamens present. The stamens are 2 to 5 millimeters long. The dust bags are 1 to 2 millimeters long. The fruit node is closely cylindrical and 6 to 9 centimeters tall, together with a beak even 8 to 10 centimeters. The pen is about 2 millimeters long and hairy. The fruits measure 7.5 to 10 centimeters. The numerous seeds are elongate-elliptical and 1 to 2 x 0.5 to 1 millimeter in size.The species blooms and fruits from May to October.The chromosome number is 2n = 16 or 32.
