Description

Euphorbia enopla, is a phanerogamous species belonging to the family Euphorbiaceae. It is endemic to South Africa. It is a succulent spiny columnar species in the shape of a candelabrum that reaches 90 cm in height. Strongly branched from the base is a dioecious shrub , covered with long, red thorns. The stems are cylindrical, straight or curved, thick as a finger, a width of 3 cm and 20-30 cm long, branching from the base, and preferably in the center, gray-green or blue-green. The ribs in number of 6-7 (8), with deep valleys between them, are gray-green, covered with small protuberances. The leaves are small. The male inflorescences separately in the peduncle, 8-25 mm long, shorter than the female, with 4-6 small bracts, 5 mm in diameter, dark red. Euphorbia enopla was described by Pierre Edmond Boissier and published in Centuria Euphorbiarum 27. 1860.
