Description

Alsinidendron trinerve (also called Three Nerved Alsinidendron) is a species of flowering plant in the carnation family, Caryophyllaceae, that is endemic to island of O-ahu in Hawaii. It is a subshrub, reaching a height of 30-80 cm (12-31 in). Three-Nerved Alsinidendron inhabits mixed mesic and wet forests on the slopes of the Wai-anae Range at elevations of 900-1,230 m (2,950-4,040 ft). Associated plants include pilo (Coprosma spp.), -ape-ape (Gunnera petaloidea), -alani (Melicope spp.), h-pu-u (Cibotium spp.), hame (Antidesma platyphyllum), and m-maki (Pipturus albidus). It is threatened by habitat loss.
