(Campanula trichocalycina)
The beech- wood bellflower (synonyms:Podanthum trichocalycinum) (scientific name Campanula trichocalycina Ten. 1815) is a herbaceous perennial plant with erect stems belonging to the Campanulaceae family. Plant native to southern Europe and the Balkans and North Africa, it grows in the woods, mainly of beech, of the medium and high mountains from 1400 to 1900 meters above sea level. The etymology of the name of the genus is quite intuitive: the name campanula comes from the bell shape of the flower. The biological form of the plant is defined as scapose hemicryptophyte (H scap): therefore it is perennial by means of buds placed on the ground; while the posture consists of an elongated floral axis with few leaves. Inside the plant there is a milky juice.
