Wildfire devastates the Greek island of Evia Today’s Image of the Day from the European Space Agency features the Greek island of Evia, where thousands of people have had to evacuate to escape devastating wildfires.

Extreme heat has fueled fires in parts of the Mediterranean and central Europe, and Evia is one of the hardest hit areas.

According to ESA, fires have burned through large forested areas and destroyed homes and businesses on the island.
