Bearded saki

(Chiropotes satanas)

galery

Description

The hair is cotton and black: on the temples the hair forms the hemispheres, while on the jaw grows a long curly beard. On the back the hair may take on brownish shades, but it is generally black,as well as the bare parts of the body (snout, hands),unlike Chiropotes albinasus. The external genitalia are rosated in both sexes. The hind legs are slightly longer than the front ones and also have modified tarsus and hands that deviate slightly to the outside, but this does not prevent the animals a predominantly quadruped gait, both on the trees and on the ground. The tail is as long as the body, shaped like a truncheonand totally covered with fur.For the first two months of life, the tail is prehensile and is used by the puppy to firmly cling to the mother's womb, while after the second month loses its prehensility
