Description

Rattus satarae is a rat ( Rattus ) that occurs in the Western Ghats and Nilgiri Hills of Southwest India.This species is closely related to the black rat ( R.rattus ) and the Asian black rat ( R.tanezumi );he was placed in one of them until Musser & Carleton (2005) made him a separate species.
