Description

Leopoldamys siporanus is a rodent of the genus Leopoldamys that occurs on the Mentawai Islands west of Sumatra.This animal was originally described as a separate species,but later seen as a subspecies of either L.edwardsi or L.sabanus.L.siporanus is a large species.The back is dark brown.On the belly there are two brown spots in the middle of the white belly.The root half of the tail is dark brown,the other half white or white with brown spots.The feet are completely dark brown.Females have 1 + 1 + 2 = 8 mammae.
