Description

The Luzon diamond ( Erythrura viridifacies ) is a species of passerine bird of the family Estrildidae endemic to the northern Philippines.It is indigenous to the islands of Luzon,Negros and Panay.The Luzon diamond measures approximately 12-13 cm in length,including a pointed and long tail.Its plumage is green,except its tail that is of intense red color and the primaries of its wings that are blackish.The green of its lower parts is lighter.at the bottom of the tail.The females are slightly smaller and present the lower abdomen and anal area cream.Both sexes have a black bill,robust and pointed.The Luzón diamond emits short,sharp sounds of the tsit tsit type,chattering and squeaking.
