Description

The mole rat or gimnuro ( Echinosorex Gymnura ) is a species of mammal erinaceomorfo of family Erinaceidae.It is the only species of the genus Echinosorex,although its taxonomy is being studied since it could be divided into several species.It has two recognized subspecies E.g.gymnasium of Sumatra and the peninsula of Malaca and E.g.dawn of Borneo.The coat of the species is black,except in the head and the distal part of the tail,where it is white,although completely white specimens are known.It has a long mobile nose.The body is long and thin.Its body and head measure from 260 to 460 mm,with corporal masses from 0.5 to 1.4 kg,being the females bigger than the males.
