Description

The West Indies dendrocigna,48-58 cm long,is the largest species of the genus Dendrocygna,as well as the one with the darkest plumage.It has a quite long beak,head and legs.The front of the neck is light and the face is light brown.The top of the head,the back,the chest and the wings vary from dark brown to black and on the rest of the lower regions,white,many black spots stand out.The beak is black.The sexes are similar;the young,on the other hand,have a more dull plumage with less clear spots on the belly.
