Description

The mute swan (Cygnus olor ( Gmelin,1789)) is an aquatic bird belonging to the Anatidae family,originally from Eurasia but also introduced in North America,Oceania and Southern Africa.The mute swan is the most famous swan species (particularly in Europe) and its harmony,aesthetics,elegance and care are often celebrated;The pre-eminent color of the mute swan is white,being white the plumage of the bust,of the wings and of the long neck (the area of ​​the head between the eyes and the beak is instead black,without feathers);the legs are gray-black,the upper beak is mostly orange - with the exception of the ends,partially black - while the outer part of the lower part is predominantly black.To the attachment of the beak with the head - only from adulthood - it has on its upper part a black protuberance,more pronounced in the male than in the female.
