"White underwing" redirects here. Particularly in North America, this may also refer to the related moth Catocala relicta. Catephia alchymista, the alchymist, is a species of moth in the family Erebidae. The species is found in Southern and Central Europe up to the Caucasus. The wingspan is 35–45 millimetres (1.4–1.8 in). The moths are on wing from May to July and sometimes again in August/September. The larvae feed on Quercus species.
